Do I use a CVH one or Zetec? I've not atually offered the CVH one up to the head to check if it fits but it just crossed my mind so thought I'd ask! lol

i'm using the standard zetec one, but the cvh will fit and i think the hoses will fit better. will need to drill/tap some new holes.

It's totaly up to you. I think the main reason people change them to the cvh housing is because the standard zetec ones can crack. Another thing to consider is the cvh housing acts like a swirl pot, i'm not sure the zetec works the same.

I'm going to be running a cvh one on mine. As well as the swirl pot, the cvh hoses should still fit!
I think you'll need to drill and tap the head though

As said karlos you nee to drill and tap the head to use the cvh one but the plastic zetec ones have a tendancy to split and leak (mine never did) and also the cvh one is metal
Hoses fit straight on.

No they 100% don't. Read the same thing by a certain user and tried it and its nothing more than forum B/S.

I tried one from a 1.4 mk2 Fiesta and one from a mk5 Escort 1.4 CVH and they don't line up, no where near in fact.

You have to tap the head or make a adapter plate.

Also tap the H20 sensor on the flat bit.

not the best pic in the world but yes a cvh housing fits fine you just have to drill and tap the head.

as for the temp sensor just drill a hole behind the coil pack bracket and screw it in there just to the right of the stat housing i used the standard 1.1 sender so works with my mk2 fiestas clocks

You can get an alloy zetec stat housing. They came on the very first zetec engines that were in the xr2i's and orions

i just used the plastic one and got my water temp sender inline with the rad hose and drilled and tapped it for the fan switch.
i was going to just mod the ecu for fan control, but thought a switch would just be easier.

i was just going to drill and tap the head for a cvh sender and fit the temp sensor in that for the dash and engine coolant sensor into the head directly.

this is mine, already have an extra temp sensor in the adaptor, so added fan switch to that:

local place machined it to fit for free, so no extra cost for me.

CVH stat housing also works as a swirl pot so no need for an extra one.
