Hi,

Has anybody fitted PR Reilly 2 front wings to Ford Escort S2 RS turbo car? How good are these to fit? I was told that they are 90% good fit. Is that correct. Any comments welcome.

im in the process of having a front wing replaced on my S2. i hunted and travelled miles and paid well to get a genuine ford part.

my bodyshop man was not keen at all on fitting a pattern part. they are shight and do not fit well. you can expect an uneven panel gap betwen the wing and door and you will also have the bottom corner of the wing stick out about 5mm, and your indicator will not sit flush.

also, the extra money is far better spent on the genuine ford wing than it is on the extra hours it will take your man to weld and wrestle the pattern wing into a shape it fits onto the car..

expect to pay 100 to 150 for a genuine ford wing IF you can find one! i was lucky, i found a new ford offside wing 50miles away on gumtree.

I disagree I have recently put on 2 front wings in a mk 4 from Cleveland panels and they are fine, if you take your time with them you can get them to fit nice, I also have a ford front panel and ford set of wings in my loft for my s2 if I ever get round to restoring it.

How can you tell the different between spurious and genuine ford wings? Does the ford ones have a stamp?

yeh, the ford ones have a stamp and they fit properly. you may not see the stamp if it has been painted though- its behind the headlight, end of the front cross member, very fine and would easliy fill with paint...
