Default s2 escort rs turbo rack replacement

evening all

i may have to replace a rack for a mate on a series 2 rs turbo and was wondering what these are like to do e.g can you do them on a jack and axel stands or would i need a ramp ?

any help greatly appreciated

Not too bad to do, the bolts behind the gearbox are a bit fiddly, make sure you get the wheel alignment reset afterwards

I found it a bit off a bastad to be honest,not alot of room between the rack bolts and the engine/gearbox.Give yourself some time and lots of patience.

cheers for quick replies i had a quick look last night and gearbox side there seems quite abit of room just engine side there ent much , the steering cuppling only goes on one way right ?

they can get a bit stuck at coupling, but not tht hard, i centred my steering wheel made sure rack was equal lenghts at each end to, and yh get tracking done, i did mine by eye but it doesnt workout ,lol. i did it with car jacked up on concrete blocks wasnt falling on me,

thats probably what the guy who got crushed to death by his escort cossie the other week was thinking aswell, get some axle stands for fucks sake

cheers guys for the info not 100% sure if im doing it yet but thanks for all the info anyways ahah
and i would never ever go under a car without axel stands i value my arms and legs too much
