right I've got to rewire my alt as the guy I bought the car from seriously
botched it, looks like a fairly new alt on my S2 it has a plug going into it
but then roughly soldered on is another wire going straight to battery??
should it go Alt>starter>battery? where do the wire go to on alt?
as you can tell I'm not electricly minded...dam keeps draining battery
now doing my head in:angry :
please someone help!

 

how thick is the wire? they are normally wired to the starter main feed lead, but if the wire is of adequate size it should be fine.

Does the batt light on the dash illuminate when ignition is switched on and go out when the engine is running?

have you checked the charge rate with the engine running?

 

ok had another look last night looks like I'm going to have to rewire things
and replace the conector block coming out of the alt,
as it look's a bit fkt
cheers studabear the wire is thick enough but there does not seem to be
a heat sheild protecting the starter motor prob why the last owner
run a direct line to battery from alt, I'm gonna try and get down to Lucas
today and get a new connector block.
