what the difference between a xr2i efi block and a rs turbo block?

Which RS turbo do you mean, fiesta or escort?

As far as i'm aware there isnt a difference between the 8v xr2i and 1.6 EFi escort blocks. But the MFi escort doesnt have hole for crank position sensor. I think thats about it really on the bare block.

dont the RS-turbos have a boss thats drilled for the turbo oil return?

i think you can drill and tap this into a normal block as the boss is still there

Shouldn't this be in the sump?

But yeah the castings should be the same i think, just different bits machined afterwards for different stuff. Easy enough to use a 1.6 MFi in a fiesta turbo just do the machining bits ford left out.
