Best Standard size RST S2 front brakes
Hello,
I would like to know what the best standard size front brakes are, that I can put on my RST S2.
It wil be a road car, no track driving. I like the looks of drilled and/or grooved disc's, but I dont want brakes that make loud noises, or crack.
I have heard alot about EBC disc's cracking, so no EBC for me...
Which brakes and pads should I use?
- National sports
- Black Diamond
- Omnicompetition
- Brakemaxx (low budget, so maby very dodgy...?)
-Etc.
Pads:
- EBC greenstuff
- Ferodo
- OEM
- Etc.
Cheers,
Sven

Cosworth 2wd disks, standard callipers with spacers. I run brembo disks (not drilled) and Ferodo DS2500 pads. The car stops fantastically i'm sure you could fade them on the track but i haven't managed to fade them at all on the road after some very spirited driving.

Which Tarox disc's would you choose?
For the Escort RST S2 the "G88" is available with 40 straight grooves, and the "sport-japan" is availeble with 6 straight grooves and 6 set's of 4 drilled holes.
They say that drilled disc's make more noise, but how much more, and what kind of noise? (grinding, squeeking, ...)
Thanks,

Just to let you know mate the Tarox discs lasted me about 25k which I done that in about 4 years and they are now warpped I think it might be due to the ebc green stuff pads or could be normal wear and tear I don't know, so I'm looking for an upgrade now.

The EBC Greenstuff warped a set or 2 of my discs, but then i was getting them to fade on a daily basis when i had them and tarox sport japan 260mm discs on my orion and using it daily. Greenstuff fade too easy imo, id try redstuff as yellow i think wouldnt get warmed up enough on the road for day to day use!
Id like to try some mintex 1144 pads, altho i now run a completely new setup with yellowstuff pads which don't fade at all ever, but they don't half dust the wheels up!
IMO i wouldn't bother with grooved discs, as they are noisy (whiring under braking) look at the prestige cars out there, Mercs, BMW Porsche etc etc... They all use Drilled discs, no grooves! Personally i'd go for plain discs (by a good brand, mintex/brembo etc) with a decent sport pad... Maybe the Ferodo (altho they are dusty iirc) or Mintex!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I have grooved disks on the astra and they are very noisy, I wouldnt use them again.
On mine I run Cossie 4x4 calipers with ferodo DSPF pads (Used to be DS2000), standard 2wd cossie disks and goodridge hoses. No warping, not too much dust and no fading.
