Default Paint

Hi guys I've just recently bought a mercury grey S2. Around the sunroof is just starting to bubble slightly and I'd like to get it sorted before it gets worse. Was just wondering if anybody could give me a rough idea on what it would cost to paint roof and front bumper.

Thanks

Would be a fair amount,as the sunroof area is a pain in the arse.If not done correctly, the rust, bubbling will be back in no time. Will need the roof lining taken off and sunroof taken out to do the job correctly. As i'm currently having mine done...

If theres rust coming through on top be prepared for lots of rust underneath. Rather than get it repaired I'd put the money into a carbon roof panel.

as muz says really. when rust shown around the sunroof on erst's its usually because the pannel has rusted through from undernieth. need to take the headlining and sunroof out to see how much damage is done.

from what i've read on here the easiest solution is to cut the pannel out and fit a carbon roof. if you don't like the look then get it painted.

Surely it wud cost more to have a carbon skin fitted than to have the roof painted

Not if you're repairing and repainting the roof every 6 months though, mate.

it won't be surface rust though. the pannel will be rotten through. i bet if you wire brush it you will find holes and you can't paint a rusty hole. then when you remove the headlining and sunroof and have a look insude it will be rotten needing a new pannel.

i think with the carbon roof you just cut the roof out leaving a lip all the way round and then bond the carbon roof on, fairly easy. you won;t even have to get it painted straight away being carbon so you could do the "repair" and then get it painted some time in the future if you wish. could always use it as a theme for the car.

just put a carbon roof on mine, it's worth the money.

my old roof looked ok from the outside but under the headlining

not the best picture
