s1 engine same as s2 engine????

s1 engine same as s2 engine????
any 1 tell me if a series 1 engine is the same as a series 2?????

only thing that springs to mind is that the s2 have a water cooled turbo, not sure where they take the coolant from or where they feed it back in tho as i'm a S1 owner!

Nearly every other part is different, but they are mostly equally good/bad and interchangeable.

inlet manifolds are 2 piece on s1's, plus the turbo different

thanks lads so i cant buy a s2 lump in stick it in??i gota find a s1 lump d'oh!!

Stick it in what? In to a S1? Yes you can, only trouble will be the water pump. Either fit a S1 waterpump or a S2 alternator mount and mk4 escort lower water pipe.

the turbo is also water cooled on a s2 i think

its2 go into a series 1,but s1 engines are like rocking horse shit where as s2 lumps are like saxo's.....every body got 1!!!i thort its basicly the same engine so bang a s2 lump in and attach all s1 bits eg water/oil pump and s1 turbo
etc etc?????

yeah that's right. if you have the bottom end and cylinder head then just bolt everything you have onto it .

in fact i put a s1 engine into a s2 when i needed to replace mine a few years back, one less s1 engine for you

You can't and don't need to use a S1 oil pump on a S2 crank.

right so basicly i get a s2 lump and bolt all s1 compents onto it but not the oil pump????
