Knock Sensor
Just a general question really lol
I have a G plate turbo and on the manifold there is a threaded hole for the knock sensor but i dont have one and their isnt even a plug on the loom for one.
I do know the loom has been replaced/repaired before at some point in its life.
So will the car have an ecu with a knock sensor or would the ecu have to have been changed aswell or can an ecu meant for a knock sensor run fine on a loom without one? The car runs and drives fine just annoying me as i know 90 specs are meant to have this sensor.

It should have one, but if it has an early S2 or S1 ECU it doesn't run a knock sensor. They are problematic so you are better off without one. Check the colour code on your Ignition (silver) ECU.

hi there mate like rick said it may be an early loom or possibly a series 1 loom? my s2 has a series 1 ecu fitted as my old ecu had a knackered circuit board for the knock sensor so i swapped the chip over to a s1 ecu and that runs fine. wouldnt be too concerned if its running ok. nick.
