Default help im at a loss

in brief

gasket blown

t/stat was fucked so put it down to that

replace head with one from a seller on here had port n polish and piper 285 t2 cam

done the usual new gasket set oil coolant oil change head bolts etc

nopw i wasnt expecting her to run well with out a tune up but

she got to temperature perfect fans came on water pump kicked in etc.

wasnt boosting great at times but i have only done 1000miles in the car tops since bying it and dont remember how she was before all that well hasnt been driven much the last 6months,but i do know that in fourth gear at 3500rpm she didnt feel like she was hitting limiter!

now there is no noise and she turned by hand ok so im sure tdc is spot on

but my temperature gauge dropped and gave me no reading what so ever. car wasnt driving that well kept cutting out when i was off the pedal and often ran lumpy when off pedal but normal driving is fine.just when i slowed down at junctions she cut out.

popped the bonnet didnt seem too hot but turbo / manifold area was glowing red now bare in mind it was pitch black and after about 2mins the glow was gone completely wasnt bright red.

i dunno whats up im just scared to drive her again

all looks ok i think torch wasnt very good! coolant seems lower tho but! im being optimistic! i do know however i cant see any signs of leaks so im hoping i havent blown a gasket with this thing!

when i was driving with my fans and heat on full inside the car it was colder than it was before hand almost barely warm air! before the temp gauge dropped obviously this was not the case and i was toasty warm inside!

ok cool ill check that tonight!

my main concern is the fact i had no heat coming into cabin when i did have 30 seconds earlier and i drove all the way home 8miles maybe like that! then the next day it was fine!?

i was thinking airlock or faulty water pump!
