Default Buying a S2 Escort RS Turbo

Newbie here......

Hi guys unsure if this is in the right section. I have got a big itch that needs to be scratched. I am looking at buying a Ford Escort RS Turbo and wonder if you guys had any tips on what to look out for when buying. I am looking to spend in the region of £1250 - £2000.

Cheers,

Grumpy

Im afraid with a budget like that you are only going to end up with a car that you will spend that much again on it sorting it out. If I were you I would budget for 3K as that would see you with a good solid car that will last.

Hi Grumpy,

I'm grumpy too.
Unless you got REALLY lucky I think you're budget comfortably buys you trouble.
I would go to a show, Central Day at Santa Pod in April for example and have a look at the cars and then decide if you really do want to scratch that itch.

I agree, that will only get you one thats in poor shape and needs at least that spending again to make it good.

All that will buy you is a heap of trouble as already said m8 aim to spend as much as is feasibly possible on buying one, you might be lucky and get one for under 3k but its doubtful

Hi Grumpy,

Unfortunatley I'm going to repeat what others have said, there are some right shed's out there and to find a decent one you will have to search hard. I looked at 3 before I bought mine that had holes in the boot and that was in 2001.

Hi i'm going to say the same as everbody else, you would be better saving to get a £3k + car.
I got mine in 2005 for £1300, 2 owner car with 76k on the clock looked ok and inside was mint but this is what it looked like when we took the kit of and had a poke around

And had some welding under the car aswell had the whole car resprayed cost me just under £4k, then spent another £4 modding it so it can be expensive.

But worth it in the end

im contemplating selling mine but what are they truely worth?

warts and all description, std car even has std hoses that havent been cut for dumpvalve, std air box etc, stainless exhaust, f reg 90 spec bumpers etc, full leather interior, really is a clean car to look at and underneith is bloddy damn good in my eyes, rails and hangers etc are completely fine, no dents or sratches atall but there is a little paint chipping on middle passenger door were some coont got at it in tescos, std alloys are mint, rebuilt engine and turbo runs perfectly doesnt even need any throttle to start apart from first thing in the morning

few years back it had new inner/outer arches, roof bits cut out and replaced and a pro repaint and 4 years later its still nice, just one teeny bubble corner of tailgate and one on roof maybe 3mm big

to say its mint is a lie, but its a damn good useable car, always attracts comments when i take it out, ive seen a lot of rs turbos in my time so hopefully that gives me enough of an idea to say this is a pretty reasonable example.

ps its not for sale now but im contemplating advertising it soon

would i be wrong to advertise it at 2k and want 2k for it?

its mot'd till oct no tax as when the odd occasion i do use it i just use trade plates lol
Are you a RS owners club member cos you could get Paul Cox to value it for you
