Default Servo upgrade

Hi, I will need to upgrade my servo at some point before the engine gets done. Been looking at replacing the servo with somthing better. Has anyone done similar? For an example burton have in their new catalog on page 128 a brake bias assemblies. They bolt in place of the servo an have 2 cylinders would that be any good? Seem like a straight forward swap any advice or help would be great. Tel

hi mate, never seen one on a mk4 yet but the lads on xrtwo.com are using mk2 mondeo servo's on their XR2's etc with good results. The Mondeo ones are a good size too.

I'd imagine if they fit a mk2 fiesta they can be made to fit a mk4 Escort - more of a budget upgrade but worth a look.

I was thinking about this last night, think someone needs to do a "HOW TO" on converting to a Mk2 Mondeo servo etc..

I might have a crack at it over next winter cant be ar$ed this year..

I think it needs to be turned upside down, but dont hold me to that...

Does that mean I would have to have my brake clutch an gas pedal changed to fit that tho?

iirc pedal boxes do away with a servo altogether which means althought th efeel is very good they are exceptionally heavy in use. As I guess half the reason you want to change the servo is to enable less effort to be expended when pressing the middle pedal

Main reason for the change is the servo has a leak. With the engine turned off you can hear a hiss coming from the rear of it. They are getting hard to find now and don't really want to replace it with a second hand one. Does any have another suggestion? Are repro
servos available?

Try a Renault Scenic servo. They are similar but are abit bigger in size.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Renault-Scenic...item2a066f484c

I havent tried this myself yet, but i do have one in stock to try one day. It might be worth a chance. Certanly more readily available than a std item anyway.

Been a bit quite a work today so have been having a hunt around on the old interweb and have come across this site http://www.mwstewart.co.uk/articles/mk3mondeomc/ , however i cant read it clearly here at work as the text is all bunched together. Can one of you guys have a look and see if it will help out on the servo upgrade.

I know its detailing how to do the conversion on a Mk3 Fez but most be some similarities.

break out a welder and a mondeo servo, i've converted loads of mk2 fiesta's to them now with all good results.
you do need to remove the servo mounting brackets and chop a bit out and reweld, then open up the mounting holes witha burr or similar.
takes about an hour i reckon all in.
granted this is on a mk2 fiesta, but mk4 escort servos are a direct fit to them, so vice sresa it should be the same process.
