Default Rust round windscreen wipers...

Im sure you will all know where Im talking about...the bit there the motor stalk spline thing pokes thru.
Im assuming its because there is no-where for the water to go when it rains.
So, would it be safe to buzz a tiny 1 or 2mm hole at the lowest point and obviously seal it correctly after?
Mines only just starting to show, but would rather sort it now!

Or is it a twattish idea and shall I just treat the rust normally??

Comments/abuse welcome!!

don't think thats a good idea, imho it would aggrivate the rust problem. water should clear from there as soon as the car starts moving.

i thought mine were rusting but on closer inspection it was the washer that was rusting causing surface rust so a new washer some tcut and i was fine!

Trouble is, the car might not move for 2 weeks at a time. And with winter approaching, I really dont want water sitting there!
