Hi Grant XR,

Can you measure the diameter of the piston?
This will tell if you have a +2mm overbore ( or more)

Cheers

What size are the "zolna" pistons? 80mm or 82+ mm?

I had a "Stage 3 2.0 Zetec" they built which was the top spec they did without going into forged rods and high compression pistons. This was thier "fully gas flowed and ported head" which I always thought was a little rough for an engine which wasn't exactly cheap!

good job it had these to force the air in

to be honest mate if you want a good engine i wouldnt bother with a zvh i would either do a big spec cvh or go full zetec turbo as the zetec is the same price as a zvh and is a much better conversion

Not being funny mate, but are you saying a zvh isn't a good engine.

Its not that the ZVH is a bad engine, its just thats a good ZT will make more power for similar money! Especially if you're building from scratch.
And a zetec block is designed to work with a zetec head, not a cobbled together mismash of two engines

IMO

Wow!

The way those "stage 3" 2.0 zetec ports look like,( a little rough to say the least ) a CVH head would probably flow the same.

Hi Mark,

I certainly hope that import USA or Canada blocks were used in the past.
The block shown in this thread is a 1800 UK block overbored.

On the website they say its an 1850cc block bored to 1905cc, they use 82.5mm, 82.75mm, and 83mm pistons.

Rob,
Sorry to resurrect this post, just thought i would mention my engine has in fact cost nearer to £1200, just finished ordering parts and thats using the standard cam! so £1500 with a cam kit. You could probably knock off 2-300 for unnecessary machining, and a further 1-200 if your standard bores are good.

Machining alone came to £430, gaskets, bearings and seals came to £200 from burtons.

Hope that helps some one when rebuilding their own engine! This also isn't taking into account the 12 or more hours it will take to measure up and blue print the bottom end or the time it will take to lightly port the cylinder head, so for a good spec high quality rebuild by a tuner i can easily understand the bills some people get. I would probably charge 2500-3500 grand for an engine to similar spec.
