timing via vernier pulley on a piper 285T2 ????
Hi,
Do you 'advance' the cam timing on the pulley to make the cam come in earlier ?
Its on standard timing at the moment but it comes in really late, I am going to get my tuner to advance it 2 degrees, from peoples experience will this make a noticeable difference in the power delivery ?
cheers, Duncan

You have to measure when the first inlet valve opens to set the timing correctly. You do this with a dial gauge. It's very important that you correctly set the specified timing to get the most out of your cam.
How you do this is explaind in the Burtonpower catalouge.

the cams allready fitted & timed in correctly its just its set to zero degrees on the vernier. So what I want to do is alter the timing slightly via the vernier to move the powerband, that all.
As above, from peoples experience, what changes have you made to the vernier and did it make any noticable difference ?
cheers, Duncan
