advice on tuning my s2
Hi Guys,
My car is still standard and I would like to go for 220-240bhp.
Im not that of an engineer, so I would like to do a 1 day engine
exchange this summer (I will be visiting England because of
fordfair).
Shall I go for a 1.6 or an american 1.9 block ?
Got any spec advices ?
Tuner advice ?
Thanks guys, Joost

People ave so many diferent opinions, mine would be to tune your 1.6 but if your looking for a relyable 220 to 240 i would say a zvh, or full blown zetec,
On your 1.6 the obvious things are chip, exhaust, cam, pulley, big inter cooler, hybrid turbo, fifth injector, this should see about 200 bhp, if you have a decent engine already

hi there...we have built a 230-240hp erst and the spec list was roughly:
1600cc CVH
+.5mm MAHLE pistons with 7.6:1 CR IIRC
burton steel rods
stage 3 turbo with .48 exhaust housing
stage 3 Vulcan engineering head - big valves, fully ported and ported and bench tested
still retaining MFI
EVERYTHING regarding fuelling was renewed - injectors, fuel pump, filter, accumaltor, wiring etc etc
stage 2 bearnie box and 4 paddle clutch (to cope with power)
Pace HUGE front mount intercooler
Pace rad
CVH 34 Kent cam
setup by Ahmed Bayjoo
limitor raised to 7200rpm
runs 22psi boost and lights up the tires in 2nd and 3rd even with the bearnie box in the dry!!
there is NO 5th injector and still on MFI...power figures have been estimated at 230-240hp GENUINE and beats new M3's hands down!
also have a S2 with a ZVH running 230hp
2.1 steel Zetec bottom end
stage 3 turbo
Calibra pistons
stage 3 turbo
stage 3 head
GRS intercooler
Pace rad
FRST OFAB management
custom map by Ahmed Bayjoo
CVH 35 cam (IIRC)
produces 230hp on the dot (cant remember name of RR but was in PF)
the difference between the 2 cars is the power characteristics...the zvh pulls HARD low down and all the way to redline really...and the CVH is a PROPER race engine and foooookin MOVES when revved!...and when i say these 2 cars fly...i mean they FOOOOOKIN FLY
i would not really recommend the 1900 conversion as i have heard too many horror stories...stick with CVH if u like revving the car or ZVH if u want a nice easy driver
