I have just done an engine swap on my s2 but forgot the way to wire the starter and alternator up so she will start. I have the live from the battery going to the starter and the smaller red going from the starter to the alternator b+. I am not sure where the black from the battery is meant to go?

 

black one from the battery goes to the the earth on top of the gearbox

 

Your thinking of the gearbox to body earth the black wire from the battery goes to the top bolt that holds the starter onto the box
