Default Speedo problem...

My speedo has stopped working (bounces up every now and then), and I can hear what I think is the cable turning round 'clicking' inside the speedo?!
The end of the cable is square so I'm thinking maybe the hole in the back of the speedo has worn not square, and so it's just spinning round inside catching every now and then?

Any one know if this is the case?

Cheers!

Yeah checked that, it was in as I had to squeeze the clip to release it, I'm guessing the gearbox end is in as I can hear what I think is it turning.

mine was bouncing becauase the diff bearings had collapsed and was making the speedo drive gears mesh sometimes then stop then it chewed the ring gear and the drive and the box smashed soon after within about 3 miles lol

hahahaha oh dear!!
This only happened since I removed the clocks the other day so I'm fairly certain it's a problem that end, but having had them out and made sure the cable was in properly i'm a bit confused.......
So I'll do the above and see whats going on!
