Default 82deg thermo and msd fan switch

Hi all,

Just a quick one on this, I've fitted the above and the fan now kicks in when the needle hits "M" but doesn't appear to want to switch off. Haven't gone out for a run in it yet.

When timed (at idle), the fan was on for 10minutes not sure how long they would have continued as I switch the car off. The fan does not kick in when started only once it hits the "M". I know its not a major issue as running RSTs' cool is a rarity, but my concern is will it draw lots of current just being on like that?

anyone else running the switch experience the same?

I will update once ive been on a run

Cheers

Dave

I think its because the MSD fan switch turns the fans on at a lower temp,so I'd guess your fan will spend alot more time running.I would'nt worry about it,should help stop the car boiling over in traffic.Have you asked MSD at what temp their switch is set to turn on the fan??

never really had an rs turbo boiling over in traffic except when the raditor was fckued and even then it was never bad once you start moving it was ok.

i'v got an 82 degree stat and msd fan switch in mine with 2 spal fans on the front of the intercooler, my fans come on at just over 90 degrees and go back off just below 90 without a problem.
