Looking good Karl!
Built very well/clean!!
Just need to give it a lick of paint now...
Out of interest Christian why don't you use any Graphogen on the bores? I was told that this was useful here to help bed the rings in on start up/and provides a protective layer?

Looks like you've done a good job there mate, sure wish I was confident enough to build my own
220 - 250 bhp sounds reasonable to me. What kinda power output could you expect from it if the turbo wasn't holding you back?
Do you mind me asking how much it has cost you to build?
Big-Dan.

Nice work Karl, couple of observations though....
1. I'm surprised you didn't take the opportunity to clean the block up!
2. Did you seriously put sealer all round the sump gasket??!!
3. I don't use Graphogen anywhere except on the cam lobes/followers, certainly not in the bores.
Either way, should be great to get up and running again!!

I did clean the block up!! It's been painted red, and then black, and what you see in the pics is a mixture of whats left after a good clean with Gunk!
Yes I did seal the sump gasket as pictured, it's the only way to get it to seal IME.

The whole engine (just the engine) cost as follows...
Pistons Ł450
Rods Ł330
Head (SS valves, bronze guides, ported, flowed, etc..), and Newmans cam/lifters Ł1000
Gasket sets, bolts etc.. Ł75
ACL Bearings Ł90
Crank polish and decking of block Ł50

FYI, when you're doing the gasket when the engine is upside down like that, don't use sealer. It LESSENS the chance of it sealing in my opinion.
As long as you use a Payen gasket, not a Ford one or any other brand and you fit it dry, before just lightly nipping the bolts up, it won't leak. You have to go round it a couple of times, but really only nipped up. Mine has never leaked doing it this way.

It Wasnt Me!
Looks good Karlos, 300bhp on std compression tho!!??
I cant wait to rebuilt my RST engine, just totaly standard though, if I sell my big valve head that should almost cover it!

Cheers Zo!
No mate, far too cold to be outside fitting engines! Thats why I built most of it in the kitchen!! lol
Waiting for some warmer weather then i'll get it in, still got lots to do..... Quaife rack, Hdy clutch, rewiring loom, etc...
Yes mate 300bhp is very achievable at stock CR, and even more from what I was told on another thread!
Christians motor for example was 300bhp at stock CR, still using stock Mahles too!

I do think 300bhp is achieveable at standard C/R and even higher, but only on a decent ECU and with a competent mapper.
Yes, thats roughly it. I just can't see why use anything in the bores.

Karl, my 300bhp engine was indeed on Mahles, but they had been machined for low comp.

Quaife rack is now in, gearbox cradle and mounts are off the old Gbox, cleaned, and ready to fit.
Was going to put the cradle in the bay then realised I used the two front bolts to secure the engine to my engine stand! lol
Just need to borrow my mates engine crane, fit the flywheel, clutch, gearbox to the engine, and drop it in!

good luck mate, might be safer to get the engine back in through the bottom, use the crane to lift the body up, your less likely to smash great chuncks out your inner wings that way lol no vernier pulley Karlos? i swear i saw one in another photo of yours (that could be bollocks tho!).

Rob,
Rob,
No vernier mate no, I have no need of one..... two reasons, one I have no rolling road to tune on so I cannot accurately make changes to positive effect! lol
Secondly, it simply moves the power band up or down the rev range on a single cam engine so not much use unless your running a big arse lazy turbo then you can give it a coupe of degree of advance and lose a bit of lag..... but i'm not! lol
Yeah I have spent a few quid but thankfully i've landed some blinding deals, and been able to sell a LOT of old RS bit and bobs to fund most of it..... not really had to dip into my pocket that much thankfully!

I was a two shows last year, Modified Nationals and Modified Live and the car got lots of attention, it was the only one there like it which helps lol

No mate the only part of the EFi loom you use is the Inlet assembly loom (injectors, ACT, TP, CLT, sensors), just cut out all the old MFI loom thats not needed, and MS comes with a loom raedy to be soldered up to the inlet loom and then just the CPS plug, and coil pack plug to fit! Easy mate!
