not relevant with my current setup, will have to respec the turbo and go for a different cam, lifters and maybe valves.

Thanks for the advice, i wasn't sure what power was required but after reading a few of the experienced guys comments i think 350bhp is minimum amount of power. Will have to re-spec my turbo and cooling and brakes on top of the box to get that sort of power, but it is do-able as my engines a fresh built lump with steel bottom end and 7.5:1 CR and a stage 3 big gas flowed ,P&P head with a piper t2 cam.

probably the close tolerances and strain on a smaller displacement engine, more displacement more power, simples

i reckon its more than likely down to the poor lubrication in the cvh ,

espically with the hydraulic lifters ,

,

morph you reckon the piper t2 is up to the job of + 350 fella ?

id of thought you would be looking at a custom ground cam of the job ,

Has anyone got a graph of either Christians or Ollies engine im interested as these cars are getting a 'move on' with relatively little Power so want to see why.

Beefy is right thats the biggest problem poorly lubricated lobes and lifter bases, followed by cracking heads and blocks because of how old everything is, the metal is getting on a bit and cant take the temps generated by big bhp builds any more, unless your lucky enough to find a very low mileage one like Christians which had only done around 40'000 IIRC.
The T2 has an almost identical profile to the Newmans RST Cam profile but the Newmans is likely to last a little longer, although it is still poorly lubricated meaning a far shorter life than say a Zetec cam.

on oli's last engine it craked right along the front of the block on national day.
and as far as im aware thats how he seems to brake most of his engines
i dont think oli's has been on the rollers on his more recent engines, but tims when on last year i belive.maybe he will see this and might be willing to post up his graph?

thats what you need to talk through your tuner with for him to spec you a cam for what your after mate.it also sounds like you need your tuner to spec you a full engine build mate.

Has anyone tried to modify the cvh head or run a seperate oil feed to the head to aid extra lubrication or is that not possible?

Oli's is quick round there, a couple went in our group last year and went well until one had a slight off and broke the rear tie bar.

Tim
Thanks for the graph is that a typical curve do they tend to die that quickly after Peak Power. Can see why pulling much over 7k gets hard .
What did that pull at Brunters & did you use Nitrous.
Never looked at you guys battling for the Topspeed crown, but i suggest that the record is a good one. Over 170 with sub 400 is very good indeed .

It looks like Morph is getting the picture that its not easy .

Tim nice power/graph there!

I look forward to having a play at Central Day 2010.

For topspeed Il have the power but unfortunatly not the gearing at present

Although I know cvh/zetec topspeed is deemed a different class.
