hi all, i have a boost problem. recently had a new turbo unit on my series 2. it was working fine. all of a sudden it stopped boosting. itl boost very little in 3rd and 4th cos of the biigger gears but 1st and 2nd see no boost at all. i have checked all hoses, i have also bipassedthe amal valve by jus having the hose straight from turbo side to actuator and stil nothing. its as if the actuator isnt opening. also have fitted a new actuator. any thoughts??

how much pre load have you put on new actuator

 

i havent put any on it, i jus wound the arm so it went straight on the wastegate arm. is that not correct? how can i check if the amal valve is faulty?

you need some preload on the actuator, otherwise it wont open fully, or at all as your finding out. you need tension on it, if you still have your old actuator have a look at that for a rough guide. if not take it in a few turns (try 4 say) to start with and see if it makes any difference.

 

as above it should be to short to go straight on you should have to pull it on to it's pin then put retainer in hole

 

If in doubt, take it to a tuner for a set up
