silver top sump fits, you need the silver top pickup, but the black top sump is much better, just need to cut it a bit if u are using a front starter.

ST170 springs are stiffer than normal zetec, the americans get about 20psi out of them, but you're better to uprate them.

plan using a focus st170/ rs focus box,is it big hassle with the 170 head vvt,or would it be easier to use a blacktop, also could i use a fiesta rs turbo inlet with an adaptor plate,as it will run over the gearbox

your better of using a standard black top head with standard cams but with uprated springs with a custom inlet and this is good for 350 bhp, and if using focus rs box then use black top sump as it uses the extra holes

i had really bad valve float at 12psi on a standard st170 head. a blacktop will be much easier to get the power from and map.mine is over 350hp on a standard head and cams with a set of up-rated valve springs.

p-s really dont see why people want to go down the st170 head when the blacktop is sooo good.

Piper sell uprated direct fitment valve springs that can do at least 20 psi. Its what I got.
Finished mine today:

no any 2.0l flywheel. i love the way people say i want at least 350hp lol. you ever been in a real 350hp rst?? it will scare the shit out of you and takes a lot to put it down.
i would just build a blacktop i really dont see the need for a st head .

i have been in a mates genuine 280hp 1.6cvh, and owned many fast cars myself including a 320hp rx7, but i am a ford man and love the agressive feel of the rst what no other car gives, obviously i have never had a 300+ rst so im building my ultimate with all the right bits, thankyou crazycage your a very helpfull chap,is there any chance i could run my silvertop area six valve springs in the blacktop head,if not where could i get a decent set for the blacktop

the springs are the same mate thats whats in mine . you really cant compare a big power cvh to a zetec the power band is so much better in the zetec if spec'd right lol.

i'll second crazy been in his and first time we opened it up properly for a run on motorway to stretch it's legs we pulled to limiter in fourth which was like being on my bike and after run realised we were in fifth and had actually been at 7000+ revs in fifth gear which then made us realise just how quick it is and when it torque steers you need 3 lanes on motorway to keep it straight the jump from 270-280 t0 350+ is emense and for a road car 300 is plenty

and that just goes to say what a genuine 350bhp fiesta goes like still getting sh*t loads of torque steer even with focus rs box decent suspension and custom bottom arms.
if you want it for fast road use then perhaps 350 is slightly too much
but if you want it for making records like crazycage is going for then go for it mate.

sorry didnt see the strip and track post

your right i probably will beat the current 12.65 1/4 but its not what i built the car for thats all .
project rs is talking about a late night mapping session about 9 months ago lol.
my 12.7 was set with about 310hp and by central day next year i should have about 370hp

9months ago kriky lol i think what youve said before tho you will get it as far as you can but when you cant get no more air into the engine from the turbo i think you will get bored and will have to go gt30 haha nah mate its an utter animal as it is.i think you should leave it as it is then i might be not to far behind you one the 1/4 miles when my engines built haha

Have a look on google at the st170 turbo's over the pond (search svt turbo)

They retain the vvt to get the turbo spooling up quicker and don't even change the compression ratio so get 300bhp at 12-13 psi on crappy fuel and that's reliable too. Some are running 20psi on the standard engine puting out around 380bhp.

Jamsport do gotech ecu's that can retain the vvt (cheaper than omex and dta)

The only thing I'd recommend is ditching the standard inlet manifold on them as they can cause problems

ive been told that you can run 15psi on stock internals,as they are forged to an extent,i have a zoo custom inlet and DTA management system, can i really run my 3" exhaust system with the standard blacktop sump

I spoke with Jamsport who said the Pro (being discontinued now) and the Pro-x can control it continuously like Omex 710, DTA S60 etc

rick what issues did you have with the water pump, did you have to change to something else, also could i run a rst box and flywheel on the blacktop like a silvertop,as i would fit the focus box later
