Quick pic of mine in its earlier stages, is finished now, but i want to change the textured red rocker cover as it doesnt match the red of the bodywork or hoses. Also ive had my inlet and charge carrier done chrome/silver powdercoat but i dont like it anymore so going to change to a mirror polished one again like i have had before. Anyone got one they want to sell?
Sorry about poor pic quality

Where the top of the struts are the round metal items where do you get chrome ones of these?? are they just caps you lot have fitted or taken them off and had them chromed??
i also noticed alot of your engine bays seem to be smoothed over/painted up around the edges and across the front crossmember - do you just smooth it down and paint it using hammerite or what guys?

any help appreciated.
no mate weld plates over holes or fill smaller holes with welds, flat off cover with body filler flat, prim, flat, spray paint
to be honest if u wanna use hammerite i would get a a profssional to do the whole job for you
dont use hammerite on your engine bay i did it just to hide rust on my gti which i wasnt bothered about but dont do it on your rs unless you use spray hammerite

it was my daily drive as the rs was away i used it for work lol and im a plasterer i did look after it though spent a few bob on it but i wasnt too bothered about it i love my s2 too much it dont look as bad in the pic as it does in reality though you can see all the brush marks but it does look a lot tidier than the white ford painted it with bits missing everywere and rust coming through
can you buy slam panel covers which look smart etc so i could literally scrub it down with sandpper then hammerite over it and the cover would do the job of looking smart?

cheers.
Best thing to do is have a look through some of the resto threads and see how people have done it ,sometimes better to look at pics and get an idea ,have a look through my resto thread lots of pics on there ,engine bay should be near the start i think
Cheers guys il give it a look, i might just have a go myself with a few rattle cans. If i prep the slam panel etc enough first and cover everything up i cant go wrong in having a go i guess.
