i had a similar problem and it was the earth wire at the connecting plug behind the speaker cover had gone green and brittle. its worth mentioning tho that at first glance it all looked ok and the othe wires wher fine. it wasnt untill i un pluged it and looked in the connector tha i saw it was knackered.

first thing i would try is check the switch..then spray the motor and rubbers with plenty of wd40 or similar, and grease up the mechanism...mine was the same, seemed to die overnight..did this and they now work spot on. super fast in comparison..then it would be check earth..if none of them probably a new motor is required

Clean and tight up the switch inside contacts using a little flat screwdiver, and as above spray WD40 on the motor, rubbers and rails.

If the motor isn´t dying, it will be just like new after that.
