Default EGT temp range

I've recently managed to get my EGT guage to start working on my VEMs AFR/EGT and i was wondering wot sort of values I should be seeing and a rough guide of the max temp that i really wanna see when hard on the throttle??
went for a quick run and its 3/4/500 degrees c when just driving normally and rises to a max of about 750 degrees c with prolonged time at full throttle.
My engine is a standard EFI 1600cvh running a bar of boost with 195 chip and beiges.
The probe is located just after the turbo in the downpipe.

that sounds ok mate, mine goes to 850 but that's before turbo, you don,t want anything above 800-850 after turbo

cheers mate, I remember reading about not wanting it to go over 800 or so but wasn't sure if that was before or after the turbo.
temps go down pretty quick once off full throttle so i spose thats a good thing.

As above, I'd be concerned seeing anything over 850

thats ok then, so as a rough guide aslong as i'm not getting too close to 800 or over it then it should be fine.
the AFR is steady @ 11.7/11.8- sees more like 12 on a cold morning though!
