Default what options do i have?

Hey there,

i am going to look at a S2 RS turbo tomorrow and if all is as described i will be buying the car.

Unfortunately i do not know much about the cars, I have always had a soft spot for them but sadly the soft spot is as far as my knowledge goes.

What i would like to know is what options i have and what routes i can take with a few modifications.

The engine is completely standard, it just has a turbo back exhaust system. I am unsure of what power output this engine will be putting out and i know that none of us can say it will have ### BHP and ###Torque.

What engine mod options do i have? my pockets are not mega deep so i wont be able to go down the forged route. What mods can i do? Hi-lift cams, uprated turbo, tubular mani, bigger FMIC? I really dont know what options i have. My goal would be to break the 200BHP barrier. Like i said my pockets arent to deep so i am not looking at paying out for a whole new forged engine build but if i could uprate the turbo, cams, injectors or anything like that i will be very intrested to hear what you can suggest.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,

Not trying to put you off but check what your buying thoroughly and start with the body as no point in shelling out for a good spec engine to throw in an old scrapper.

Check for tin worm in the following areas but beware there will be trim, body kit, wheel arch liners etc which could be covering a multitude of sins so be careful as expensive to repair unless you can do it yourself, check also gaps of all panels are reasonable but bear in mind that probably had panels replaced at some point in time ie wings, doors and maybe even rear quarters and tailgates
Rear arches,
Battery tray,
Bulk head,
Scuttle panel (below windscreen)
Around sunroof and front screen (open sunroof and check)
Rear of roof where tailgate hinges are
Inner wings in and out,
Front wings,
Front x member
All arches inside and out,
Tailgate in and out,
Sills,
Bottom of A posts
Doors,
Under the back seat,
Spare wheel well & boot floor (lift out spare wheel and carpet to check where rear chassis rails are mounted)
Rear chassis legs (If you can get the car on a jack or ramp all the better)
Floor pan

Check for wet carpets, broken front seats and f88ked trim.

As for engine, smoking, over heating, not running worth a shit, not boosting, oil leaks, water leaks, clutch problems, gear selection and worn diff bearings (speedo fluctuating whilst driving at steady speed around 30 mph)

there will be more and hopefully some of the rest of the folks will be along to advise you

As for engine mods best have a look at what the others are doing as some very good advice from the knowlegable peeps on here although there is debates about who knows what sometimes lol.

yeh i made that mistake before aswell check the sun roof, the back lights all the sill for leakage, check for creases in th body aswell, and check the slam panel, also check the floor of the car too i.e footwell, spare wheel well, also check the chassis rails cos they can rot, but most imortant do a hpi check on it, check the floor numbers too i know i probily sound over cautious but the last thing ya wanna do is spend loads of money on it and find out its not what ya think it is, there are hundreds of routes to go down for modding them and ya gotta think of reliability as well as big power, but first it needs to be solid and you need to be happy with it

Add the usual rusty sunroof areas and that'll be the whole car then!
Sad but true, they rust like a motherfucker

And one of the most important things to check is the rear chassis rails as they rot badly on these car!
