Ive got a series 1 and have just bought rs2000 rear discs, which were taken off another s1.

you lot have just para'd me out about installing them noww!!!

can you just adjust the bias to the front a little more, surely this will prevent the car getting light at the back??

glad i came accross this thread tho

I have 2wd cossie front calipers + cross drilled and grooved discs at the front, rs2000 rear discs....what will i have to do/ buy to overcome this problem?? And how much roughly are these bias valves??

ive got 2wd rear discs and 4x4 calipers. Got a cossie front set up. I got rid of the rear compensators and my brake lines and master cylinder are from a non abs escort which have the compensators in the engine bay. Think thats what series 1s have am i right? Anyway, cant comment on any rear locking up etc as car hasnt been on the road yet but must say the brake pedal feel is utter shit. We bleed the brakes up and yet just moving the car up and down the drive the pedal has to be pushed quite hard before anything happens. Any ideas why? One question ive asked on here a million times yet never get an answer is does anyone know of any brake specialists who can sort out my not standard brake system? Anywhere in essex? I dont know what im doing when it come to brakes. Surely someone must know the solution to rear discs on rs turbos. I might just sell them and put drums back on. Only problem is i scraped all my original rear compensators etc.

The best you can do is uprate the fronts and leave the rear drums as you've said, otherwise you end up biasing so much out of the rears that they only perform like drums anyway! lol
If however you have 16"s or bigger then you can fit 300mm Focus ST brakes on the front and run them with Cossie rears (my setup), the rear still locks up first but only just, so with a little bit of biasing you have a nice strong safe setup!

karlos- what would you do with mine personally. I wonder if my master cylinder is knackered if i cant achieve a really strong pedal feel. I realise they're old cars though and it may never be like the pedal feel of my 3yr old fez but there must be a way of achieving it using new parts.

I would try bleeding it using a pressure bleeder (if you havent already) I've had cars that just wont bleed up properly pumping the pedal, and go from there... it's hard to say really mate without feeling it for myself.
Sorry I cant be much more help! lol

I work for myself 3 days a week cleaning windows and DJ at weekends so have lots of time off!
But this week was a planned week off to get some things done to the car, sound system, alarm, gearbox, and a new hood.
Been pissing down most of the week and I'm still waiting on a part so all that been done is the sounds and alarm!
Oh but I do have my new hood here waiting to go on! lol

There's always bullshit when you work for people, thats why I work for myself, it's really boring work but it pays well and I dont have to do many hours! DJ'ings loads of fun though!

ive often thought i'd like to work for myself so i can be out on my own without people constantly breathing down your neck or moaning at you when u havent managed to get 1 job out of 15 given to u despite the fact you've worked your arse off to get those other 14 done. Was going to be a mobile car valeter once but the amount of foreign car washes has kinda finished that line of work for people. U know theres millions of them in essex? Well me and the mrs are currently in newquay and the seagulls are shit crazy round here yet i havent seen a hand car wash anywhere!
