i am stripping my S1 for a rebuild caused primairily due to rust!.... fancy that eh? lol.
i think alot of the problem was caused by horific rusting around the sunroof area!.
the whole craddle thing has rusted out.
what do people think the best way around this problem would be?...
i was thinking of either....

A... getting another complete mk3 roof section and welding it in,
or
B... getting a complete mk5 or 6 sunroof and welding in,

has anybody done the latter?

and does it have the same contours as the mk3 roof?

by the way its having new...

floors, wings, inner/outer sills, rear panel, front panel, crossmember, battery tray etc, etc....

Theres no way a mk5 roof is the same as a mk 3 roof.Plus the only way you'll get a mk3 or mk 4 roof skin is out of a scrapy,if,youre very very lucky.Regards,Micky

what about a carbon fibre roof m8 from carbon delight? you can have a skin put over your existing roof if you get rid of all the rust,or you could have the whole roof chopped out and have a full carbon fibre roof welded in.

full replacement is £460

Mk5 doesn't fit. I have a link to a guide someone else has done if you want to replace the while roof section. Good luck with the resto.
