help please????????????
ok, my s2 escort
when im driving along and slow down (engine break) my car, well sounds like its cumin from underneath passengers sort of side and makes a REAALLLY REALLYY HIGH PITCHED SQUEAKING SOUND. but while its making that sound as soon as i keep foot on clutch it stops making the noise then when i take foot off clutch it does it again.
what the fuck lol. reallly loud though it is.
any suggestions????
maybe clutch is going???????

if it was the wheel, it'll be the bearings, but that howls. so you can rule that out.
seeing as the clutch is close to the wheels i'd take a guess at what i mentioned. how old is the clutch kit?

Release bearing is only under load when the clutch is depressed, and so also only whines when the clutch is depressed.
Then it is 100% the gearbox mate!!
Think about it..... What happens when you press the clutch.......... the engine is seperated/released from the gearbox and so the internals stop spinning, then when you lift off the clutch the gearbox internals start spinning again and you hear the noise!

could be either mate ive worked as a mechanic for many years and you will find that 99% of release bearings when knackered will make noise with the foot OFF the cluth and the noise going away when ON the clutch this is due to any play in the bearing being taken up by load being applied to it so they can be heard while driving and engine braking etc.. however when really worn and on the verge of collapse they will make noise all the time but i would not rule out the gearbox being at fault also. the only way to tell is to take the box out and have a look!
