Default Metering unit, full of fuel and then just exploded fuel everywhere

Okay, after replacing pretty much every relay and getting each circuit right, and then changing the ecu's for ones that work, my RST powered 16i, tried to start!!! It fired and started to run a bit badly, but all of a sudden, and it shocked the shit out of me, fuel literally spewed out of the metering unit flap (thank god i had no filter on!) and it covered the whole engine bay!

Ny ideas why?? Im wondering if all the cranking from before has filled the metering unit up with fuel and the car has just forced it all out? Either way, it scared the shit outa me!

you should have seen my reaction then!! but cleaned it out, and tried again, and fuel is gradually filling up under the flap again. Also, it seems when it did run breifly, it was just the excess fuel it was burning off, as the fuel pump relay still isnt working properly! And ive tried 2, one being BRAND NEW

FUCKING CVH TURBOS!!

Filling up under the flap.... no fuel should be under the flap. Sounds like you've got a big leak somewhere

bloody hell Dan sounds scary. I had a fine jet of fuel coming out my fuel filter the other week. That was bad enough. Sounds like your having similar starting issues to me. My fuel pump isnt priming all of a sudden which is why i think mine dies soon as it fires up.

mines doing exactly what yours is doing, just worse. the pump will not prime and run on its own, despite there being all the correct feeds to the relay, and me trying 2 NEW relays. Now the metering unit is doing this!! fucking hell!! chances of this being done by rsoc at pod on sun is now fading away

Our neighbours might be putting their house on the market soon, u should move in lol, we could help each other out then lol, plus would be nice to have a neighbour who shares a escort passion lol and would make for a great shared driveway.

Aside from that though, i dont know why mine isnt priming now, it did when i first connected the battery today but then didnt after a few tries of starting it up.

One thing i would love would be a loom which has had no repairs etc before, that would be a massive illimination of problems.
