I just wrote a reply to the guy who was going to produce and sell his own adjustable rear suspension. It disaperaed before i could post.

I guess it was removed for trading.

However i thought i would post my reply below so that he can see what he is trying to do can not be taken lightly.

Making suspension components for your own car is one thing but selling them to the public without the appropriate insurance/liability cover is not a great idea.

If one were to fail and action was taken against you, you could end up with massive bills and loose everything including your house.

Have you assed the likely loads that will be applied to your components.

Do you have data regarding the mechanical properties of the materials you have chosen?

Can you provide design calculations carried out by a competent person showing that the components will be suitable for the loads that are placed on them and a suitable safety factor has been built into the design?

If you are welding them yourself can you prove to a court (or your insurance company) that you are suitably competent?

If you cannot provide answers to the above questions a court may rule all appropriate steps to produce a safe product were not made and find in favour of the now paralised defendant who requires £2 million in compo and fees. If you have no insurance you will be footing the bill!
