Default mot faliure

my car failed the mot emmissions its really high and cant be adjusted as there is an expected fault on the ecu as the idle control valve is workin but not adjusting the idle so runs really rich wat can i do as i been told its needs a new ecu but this still might not sort it out so im confused wats next can any one give me an mot with high emmissions till i can sort it out as its my everyday car and im stuck now till i get it moted as its run out of tax now

realy?? i would say try cleaning/replacing the valve first i have never heard of one giving up like that. have they tryed ajustion the co on the meatering head?

well its a efi turbo engine in a xr3i and yeah sorry thats wat i meant the co is not pickin up at the ecu been told this by a well known tuner when they set it up they couldnt get the emmisions down and said i would have to get it sorted for the mot and surgested another ofac ecu to see if it cures the problem or spend money on a complete new ecu package but i cant afford that and cant find an ecu to try as im a bit skint anyway and dont want to waste money on something thats not going to help
