Default RST wont start - metering unit problem?

Not mine, it´s from a friend... i told him to check out for air leaks, he changed some hoses and he believes it´s "leak-free". Now when he tries to start it, there´s no fuel coming out from the injectors but when he pushes the flap down starts coming out fuel with a proper coned shape and everything like usual... i don´t know why it don´t sprays on starting if it don´t have any air leaks.

Some tips? I´ve get stuck trying the help him...

If it sprays when you push the flap down then it does point to an air leak, or maybe even that the mixture screw is wound out too far (although if it's just started doing it then probably air leak).

With an injector cracked, the only 2 ways to get fuel out are A crank the car over, or B run fuel pump constantly and press flap down.

It could be that the fuel pump relay primes the pump (so there is fuel pressure when he pushes the flap down once), but the pump doesnt run when he's cranking the car over, so no fuel going into engine.

best thing to do is bridge fuel pump temprarily so it runs constantly then crank the car over and see what happens.

thats want i had to do was bridge the pmp relay and press the flap down then the car ran fine until it cooled for a few hours then wouldn't start again tried changing pump tried 3 metering units put the injector and lines of my other rs on changed the ecu and fuel comp and it was still the same put a diff ke relay in and job done. i know its quite a common fault that arises on the mfi rs put that worked for me. a mate had the same prob and he put one of the yellow relays in were the ke relay goes and that sorted his rs which he still has in now lol
