ever since ive had my rear disc conversion my wheels seem to have come outwards more and catch on the rear bumper,which is really annoying because i have coilover so i can have the car low but now im gonna have to raise the back end because its pretty much undrivable

Also the really strange thing is since its been done the left rear wheel catchs on the rear coil spring so now ive had to have a 3mm wheel spacer just on that side so it clears the shocker and catchs the bumper even worse

has anyone else exprenced these sort of problems with coilovers and rear discs

i get so jealous when i see cars like this because thats how low i wont mine but cant do it

the car in the picture still has drums

 

the bracket which holds the caliper is about 5 mm thick this is why your wheels have come out, as for the wheel hitting the spring, will have a guess,


have you tried a differnt wheel on the side that hits the spring, may be a problem with the wheel??? or mabey the shocks bent a bit?
all i could say my self is take the shock off and check it and also check the rears are level because if one side is higher it will shift a little more weigh on the other side?

can you not trim your arch part on the bumper where it rubs?

when i put 17 on my fiesta the rear tyres were touching the spring adjuster even with 3mm spacers. while other have no probs? might of had the wrong off set wheels?

 

The bracket that locates the caliper has nothing to do with pushing the wheel out, the plate bolts behind the hub, but not between it, so not pushing it out.

The only problems I can see is if the disk is thicker than the drum was, your using spacers, the wheels are too wide/wrong offset.

ah yes, my bad you are right scort, it is set up different to my fiesta ( that what i was thinking) as my stub axal comes off and the braket goes behind mine, on yours it bolts on the front of the stub axal, been a long day, sorry DOH lol

 

 

ive been thinking about the offset of my wheels when i ordered them i said they were for an rst escort and this is how south coast wheels supplied them, is there a way i can find out what offset mine are and what is the offset i need??ive got kahn RSS 17x7s

btw im using 2wd cossie rear discs

To measure offset:

Measure the width of the wheel,

Using a straight edge, measure from the back of the wheel, to the flange where you would mount the wheel.

Width of wheel(mm) = W
Measurement between back of wheel and mounting flange(mm) = M
Offset (mm) = O

O=M-0.5W

Now, most fords are 108pcd a c/bore of 63.3 and a 35-38mm offset, unfortunately I forget what it should be, odviously this may alter slightly dependant upon width of wheels, to get them to fit in the arches!

No mate, unfortunately I do not know the correct offset for a S2,

However alot of aftermarket wheel companys alter the offset slightly in order to make the wheels fit better.

The calculation above will give you the offset for said wheels.

The best thing to do would be use the same calculation on a standard set of S2 wheels in order to find the correct offset.

Like I say though,,, you may find using the correct offset on a wider set of wheels, may rub, therefore needing adjustment.

Personally I like standard wheels, but my brakes don't allow me to use them!

standard offset i think is 35 or 37...i know my 17's are ET37 but they do rub a little on the back with it fully loaded...

look on the inside of your rim and it should have it either in the middle or on one of the spokes...it will DEF be written inside somewhere
