Default S1 escort turbo intermittent flat spot

My mate has a S1 escort turbo which he has restored. Its got a daft fault on it only every now and then.I went out in the car with him last saturday and when the revs get in between 4000 and 5000 the revs seem to stuggle then after 5000 its ok.He said he has changed the metering head and changed the actuator. If anyone has had the same fault just let me know.

i got a similar prob but it does it from when the boost starts raising on half throttle. As soon as you floor the throttle everything is fine!

it doesnt pop or bang. It doesnt sound like its misfisfing either. He hasnt got a boost gauge but i know he can get hold of one cause he used 1 to set his actuator up. It feels like it could be a fueling problem. The car is sort of holding back when it faults.

Sounds like it needs a RR session especially if you have changed the metering head etc.....

This used to happen to my s1. It would begin to boost then hesitate then be ok again.
I took it on a rr session. It turned out my distributor and coil where on there way out.
