Default Blue Wire To Alternator, no battery light

Hello help lol
My s2 battery keeps going flat and the dash battery light has stopped coming on. After doing a search on here, i now know that if the battery light isnt coming on the alternator wont commence charging, i have checked the small blue wire going from the dash to the alternator and i think this must be the cause. if i connect another wire from the alternator direct to the back of the dash the battery light comes on and goes off with the ignition. so i believe there must be a break in this wire. can i simply run a new wire direct and would this most likely be the cause. Alternator and battery are both quite new. I want to replace the battery cables are these still available from ford

your advice would be greatly appreciated as this is ruinning the fun of driving this car wondering if it will start every time i switch it off

thanks
