Default Starter motor problem

Jumped in the S1 tonight and when i turn the key so the ignition lights come on, the starter motor is making a scraping noise. It starts fine when doing this and it stops after a couple of hundred yards of driving. I presume it is sticking. Do they have a solenoid ? Would this solve it or is a new starter motor ? cheeRS

just replace it easier!be careful of using it, it might be mashing up your flywheel teeth!

Hello, the starter motor has a solenoid in it. Mine was also problematic, and I dismantled it and give a clean. Now it is like new, very smooth at operation, and quieter.
