Default mk3 boot release

alrite need to no wats the best boot relase set up for my mk3 rs1600i.
as for fitting wise so that i dont have to start drilling the body and chopping panels

i no that the xr2i has one and an orion but at my local breakers they dont hav any but they do have a sierra 1.8 with one and found a mondeo estate with one all so wat would be the best or just keep looking for a full kit on ebay for an xr2i.
or if anyone has anything pm me cheers mart

Are you delocking the bootlid afterwards?

If so, use the MK1 Orion boot release. It will mean making to small slots @ the edge of the hole in the tailgate where the latch passes through.

You simply fit the Orion release, gently tap the latch downwards so that it sits @ the same angle as the original one (otherwise it will not line up with the striker on the rear panel) and then wire it straight up. 1 wire for earth, 1 for switch.

The other ones you describe work on a "push" effect rather than a "pull" effect like the Orion one, so connecting them up is a little more difficult.

Choice is yours though.

Need to do this on mine, but finding a mk1 orion boot release cant be easy suerly with the switch etc!?

YOu can use a 106 or saxo centeral locking motor and if your smoothing the tailgate totaly use the rear wiper wiring to save running new wires.

cheer for the help and no i wont be delocking it just the boot lock plays up sometimes so need to hav a look to atit and also setting my alarm up with central locking so mite aswell do that while the cars all apart.
