My series 1 gear box has started to make quite a loud noise when changing down gears and also when revesring. Does anyone no how much it would cost to have the bearings replaced and where to send it to? Im in the Lincolshire area.
Any ideas??

Dunno about lincs mate but dont drive it anymore as you will destroy all sorts and add to the bill.

Back in the day (although not local they do a collection service) I used to deal with kidderminster transmissions who would do me a box for about £250.

May be worth a google! Its been years since I used them though but I would imagine they are still about. The boxes arent built to take 1000hp but are a good rebuilt unit to get you up and running again, providing your diffs ok.

I have a stage one box from Bernie (Gearboxman) in my RST and have had no problems at all with it. Prior to that i was breaking more boxes than trips to the petrol station

As above, dont drive it all though it may be too late and need a mainshaft aswell.

I've bean running a Gearboxman box for a few years and up until this one had broken 12 boxes. Seems 13 was my lucky number
