Default RST Holding back

after purchasing my S2 RST it developed a problem.
it was fine when i bought it (as they always are) but now itseems to hold back on me. for insatnce when driving say your doing 70 at about 3000revs it dont pick up at all really and if your going from a stand still it seems to reach a point were its given you all its got as if some one is pushing you back.
ive taken off the turbo pipe and the charge carrier pipe but they seem ok done the plugs any other ideas.
it runs 12psi with a chip filter and exhaust.

Got the same problem mate.....goin fine then feels like it only maintains the speed mines both at 2900rpm and 3900rpm....once past them it flys..annoying when goin round M25 and trying to over take a sl500 on the inside cus the posh toff nosed twat wont move over for a lowly ford! ...but its great when ya floor it and it over boosts pops and leaves his car coverd in crap and flames!....they dont smile then...

Sounds like some kind of fuelling problem Do you get the same problem when the engine is below is full operating temp, like when you have just started it
I'm not suggesting that you thrash it from cold but before the car reaches full temp they tend to run richer. If it drives fine and pulls hard the problem may be that the on boost falling is set too lean

Hope his helps

the car is in at a local tuner at the mo mate so far he's found 3 injectors to be incorrectly spraying so i have a brand new set in it no4 ht lead was a differnet make to the other 3 (which i was aware of when i bought the car) also they wernt upto much so maybe the problem is found wot you think.

I think it could be the electro-magnetic pressure actuator on the side of the metering head.

But first get her out for a spin with new injectors and leads....... It may be solved.
(shocking price those injectors don't you think...... )

Shocking....

R you going to replace all 4 or leave the "good" one in it for as long as it holds?

picked it up 2day and it seems to be running fine now new filter leads plugs and injectors and a good old setting up although ive been told to leave the 2 stage boost alone( from 8psi to 12psi) as it seems to be running out of fuel bastard and also it aint chipped hmmmmmmm.

Sounds good mate, if it's not chipped you will only be able to run 8psi, as the ECU will cut the spark above 3500 rpm
Sounds as if the fuelling is much as ford intended it to be

I supposed the next step is to get I chipped

Cheers

Will hold upto 8psi on coloured ECUs, and 10psi on diamond, spade, club ones (something like 88/90 spec difference).

Also you can run 12psi (i've run upto 18psi) on a non chipped RST, it won't give up/pop until you get it under really proper heavy load - best to stick to 8/10psi of its not chipped though.

if its not chipped how can it run 12psi as it hought the boost limit on an un chipped car was 10psi b4 it shut down? ive heard that you can remove the boost limit completally which in turn could cause over boosting and also give you the KAAABOOOOM factor so i hope that aint the case with mine.

It is possible to run more than 8 psi but only for a short period of time,
The boost limit in the ECU works like this. The boost limit is not active until you are above 3500 rpm, at which point, if it sees no boost does nothing? If it does see boost it then times for 3 seconds before checking the level of boost, if over 8psi it cuts the spark, if under 8psi it does nothing.

So if you have boost set higher, or over boost’s higher than the limit, providing that you change gear or the boost drops back below the limit before 3 seconds has passed you will get away with it.

Cheers

That must be on pre 90spec cars cus mine holds longer than that on 10psi...its when it gets a little colder and i see the gauge go to 12/14psi that it pops and fires flames and smoke.still the flames look good ! tho getting it sorted soon...i hope! ..

whilst racing an 405MI the other day holding 12psi in 3rd the boost limit kicked in (proper shit myself) although i shot it straight into 4th gear then hit the fooking limit again then into 5th gear but shortly after i came of the A road. so i take it it needs a chip a.s.a.p. wot kind of problems could it cause hitting the limit as its happend a few times now
