I used one to replace my broken standard item, its not let me down yet in the past few months and the temp gauge rarely has to do any work because of it, so it gets the thumbs up from me!

Yes very good, as long as you can get hold of a good one.

And I dont mean a shitty recored with brittle end tanks and nice shiney black paint.

Lol

Yes standard is very good but doesnt always work with intercooler boost pipes etc.

Fair point. Mine is a recored one, cost over a ton for the recore, so it's not your usual el-cheapo job. Always worked superbly for me. I ran all last year with a non-turbo non-vented bonnet too.

I hear you have had my mate Dave's old bonnet. Bloody mint if I remember correctly.

I will be after a good recon one for my daily driver soon so I may pm you for contact details nearer the time if you are happy with the job you got.

Radtec will do it for me but they say they stay away from doing them generally because of the end tank brittle problems. Seems parts are getting harder and harder to get hold of with every passing month!

Did you find any turbo bits in your engine in the end?

Sorry for hijacking the thread!!

Yes, I did have Dave's bonnet. It's still in the bubble-wrap at the moment! Looks good from what I have seen though.

Not got the engine out and in bits yet. This week I hope, been out of action since Xmas with this shitty bug. First day of feeling anything like Human today.

As for the recore, mine is in plastic end tanks. I really have never had a problem. In all honesty, why should there be? If your rad blows, chances are the head gasket is gone. Otherwise, the fact that it has 350bhp shouldn't reflect much upon the radiadtors ability to cool the engine. That's just my opinion. However, that said, on every other car, Alloy rads seem to work well, and I advise them, however, I haven't seen an Alloy Rad on an RST cool any better than a standard one.
