Dead S1
O.k i was out in the S1 this morning
out having some fun like you do
when all of a sudden it hit a wall
not literally but thats what it felt like
Would not boost at all the higher the
gear the lower it would rev
clutch down revs fine the more load
the less it would rev
o.k now i am shitting a brick i manage to
limp home and start looking to see what has happend
any way i didnt have a scooby fucking doo
PROPER SHITTING IT NOW my baby had died
the only diference from yesterday was it had a new
cambelt so i thought the timing may of slipped so
redone it still the same
changed a few thing back to standard STILL the same
right so close to tears now
what could it be
also a bit pissed off now aswell right fuck the neighbours
i said so popped the bonnet started the bitch up
blipped the throttle a bit then a bit more then nailed the c**t
to the floor listening for anything strange nothing, let off the
throttle then did it under the bay let off again BINGO
i got hit in the face by a load of air right then now
we know where to look i thought the turbo had cracked
or some thing
so i started to strip it all out when i noticed
THE FUCKING JUBILEE CLIP ON THE BOTTOM
BOOST HOSE HAD SNAPPED AND THE HOSE
WAS HALF OFF
HOW THICK DO I FEAL NOW
Sorted it, fine now runs a dream again
oh well i know what to check for next time

done a similar thing once.
gave it some beans up a road and went to change up a gear and engine revs just started dropping till it cut out.
pushed it to the side of the road tried starting it but nothing. thought i had properly killed it.
anyway got it towed home and had a look at it, checked plugs, leads, distributor everything it just would not fire up.
then looked down at the hose going from intercooler to charge carrier...
hose had come off as i hadn't done up the jubilee clip on the intercooler pipe.

I agree with syko, I always think the worst when something goes wrong with mine.
The other day driving it, it went pop and then just died, thought "oh fuck" was shitting it. Turned out the jubille clip on the bottom hose was loose and the boost pipe had come off!!

Had exactly the same on my S2 whislt driving to work one morning. Overtook a truck and car and changed from 4th to 5th..pooft, no power. Cruised along and the car stalled when I went to change down. Luckily managed to find a cutting to get off the main orad..not easy without any steering neither. Bonnet up, couldn't find anything wrong so ended up on the back of a recovery truck to a garage back home. Turned out to be the turbo to airbox hose come off.
Glad you got it sorted.
