Default Correct or Not?

1) is this correct the two wires for the fuel pump (brown and red + black) the brown one is the ground and the red + black the live?

2) secondly i bought a fuel pump and took the old one off, the new one ive bought is longer then the original one, im guessing this will not fit into the bracket and is the wrong pump for the car (its a bosch one)

You are correct on the wires for the fuel pump. Black/red is the live feed from the fuel injection relay and the brown is the negative wire

As for the fuel pump you will need to get the numbers off it to find out what it is. Dont think the length will make any diffrece when fitting though.

just had a go with fitting the new pump up, its seems to catch on the bracket as the holes for the bolts dont align up correctly, guessing the pump is incorrect then, the pump is for a s1 & s2 turbo though dont understand why its longer then the original

Im guessing you have a standard fuel pump bracket? im not shure what they look like or how they are fixed as mine is a stainless aftermarket one which came with the car. Im pretty confident with one like mine the length wouldnt be a problem. Here is a pic of mine so you can see if its any diffrent?
