Does it turn over normally? What does it sound like when you try to start? Does it sound like the starter motor is turning the engine over more easily than usual? Could be a compression problem then, also check the cambelt.

Sudden power loss could indicate a pipe has come off producing an air leak.I, d check all of them.Get a friend to try and start it while you stick your head in the engine bay and lisen for any HISSING.

same thing's happened to my gf's tubby

it was idling fine then just died, no weird noises or anything.

Fuel pump sounds rank, but this happened before and we thought it was the fuel pump, but turned out to be an air leak.

Only prob we've got is, the bonnet release seems to have broken too! So we can't get under the bonnet to check for any air leaks yet!!

well i managed to get it started lol but then it just cuts out and judders the car quite a bit like its missing, i got it started again and seems to be running fine, got it to idle then left it for about a minute and it just died, it has carried on doing this, me and my dad thought it may of been the fuel so i fitted a new fuel filter, started it up got it running seemed fine then same again just cuts it self off, i have a new fuel pump relay coming on tuesday so am going to try this but i can hear the fuel pump working, it just doesnt seem to have a continus flow of fuel. Or could it be anything else, i have no air leaks either. PLZ HELP!!!!!!

It could be the regulator as i had a problem like this and safechav recommend that i change the fuel regulator is it does something with the fuel pressure from the tank to the fuel distrubutor.[/b]

On the fuel distrubutor top left hand corner there is a round cylinder(fuel regulator) with three red hoses, two going to the bit behind the air filter and the third goes to the middle of the car below the bulk head

right then i have taken the spark plugs out and given them a clean, i checked if i was getting fuel to the afm and the fuel is there on the 4 injector ports, but took the pipes off the injectors and not any coming out of there it would seem, will this do this as i have the pipes off or is it not gettin pressure to send the fuel up.

well i looked again and there is fuel coming out but only trickling should it be like this as i managed to get the car to start and idle but when i left it to cool down it struggled a lil but started again, could it just need a tune up as it has needed one even before i fitted the front mount. thanks

As you stated at the start of this post "it just cut out", i had a problem like that, so i asked about and i was told change the fuel reg, now i have it starts better now.

Dont know if the fuel should trickle through as you say it does, but seeing as the fuel reg was only a 25min job(im no mechanic) i just changed it.
