Default cheapeast efi trigger wheel option

im almost finshed my efi conversion, swapping the head, inlet ect from the doner car(efi orion) tomorrow.
already fitted everything else
the last bit i need to sort is the cps
i dont fancy drilling the block,i have recently put a new alternator on and aint to keen shelling out for another to change the pulley over
is there a cheaper way.
dont mean to sound tight but am running out of spare cash for this conversion and would love to get it finished

Ive not tried it myself but apparently you can just change the pulley on your alternator.

So that with a trigger wheel set up would be easiest IMO

What are you doing with the block etc out of the orion aswell?

You can also mod the current pulley.

I've heard talk that this was a sierra bottom pulley, anyone shed any light on which car this came on?

That installation guide is useless, they show a trigger wheel on a pulley which already has a trigger wheel on it?! GOOD IDEA

bassy_g, you have PM

I'm not quite sure what you mean. The CVH pulley shown is a standard, plain pulley as it comes off the engine, the second image of it shows it with one of the ring gear trigger wheels placed onto the recess that was already on the pulley. No modifications have been done to either component at that stage. How you then go on to fasten it to the pulley is up to you some people like to weld them, others like to bolt them.

As far as which pulleys have teeth built into them goes it's all th CVH sierras.

Nearly all the American CVH/SPI versions had the trigger wheel on the pulley because of auto transmissions.

That's what I thought. I thought it was a very good installation idea!

The picture on the site IS NOT A STANDARD CVH pulley.......our cvh's have pressed steel pulleys, thats a cast item that already has a trigger wheel.......

If you can get hold of one of those sierra cast pulleys then that's by far the easiest way to proceed. If you're stuck with a pressed steel one then you can often just use a spacer and then one of the "pilot hole" style wheels using the main crank bolt to secure it.

I've not got one of the pressed steel CVH pulleys to hand, have you got any pictures?

BTW the web site has been updated albeit with more pictures of the "wrong" pulley style for you: http://www.trigger-wheels.com/fitting/fitting.php

Im still not sure you are grasping what i said. The pulley demonstrated there appears to be a CVH pulley that already has the 36-1 on it?!

Why fit another one?

For illustrative purposes. That is a web page describing the general principles of fitting a trigger wheel rather than an instruction manual for any specific installation. If you look closely you'll see that the 4WD cossie pulley shown at the top of the page using spacers and the crank bolt is the same one shown further down the page machined for a rear mounted trigger wheel. Why was it shown with spacers and a front mounted pulley when it was already machined for the rear mounted one - to illustrate two different methods of fixing a wheel in place.

The only page on the site that has engine specific instructions (I'm being careful to say engine rather than vehicle here) is the Rover V8 one: http://www.trigger-wheels.com/rv8/rv8fitting.php

Would it be better if the section that mentions the CVH pulley had all the references to what the pulley was removed?
