Since building the car from scratch I am slightly regretting fitting the dam thing, seems that when ive got quarter of a tank it tells me, well bleep bleep bleep bloody bleep that theres 0 miles ,

I know they where never the height of technology, but do yours at least register a ROUGH range of miles to what you have in the tank......or is it just mine?
oh and by the way, I have 17 of the dam fuel computers lurking about, my girlfriends keeps finding them lying about here and there, you can imagine...... one even worked its way under the bed stopping it from going back ! they all do the same, and why if I unplug it for a minute and plug it back in does the range increse but over a short time just seems to drop to 0 quite quickly again? its like there is a resistor thats stretched its value and gets warm when plugged in and gives a false reading?

Mine worked fine..until I put optimax in it one day. Then the range quickly dropped. I had to unplug it & re-connect when my fuel gauge got low ot get an accurate reading. Funnily enough, I shortly stopped using optimax and it started working corectly again.
Have you tried another computer?

 

Ive had them in 3 of my cars including the one i have now and NONE of them worked properly hence the reason ive made a gauge holder out of the one in my RS now
