Default Can someone list the differences between 88 + 90 spec

As above!

Ideally would like a pic of a 90 spec front bumper, and an 88 spec one. Aswell as any other differences, cheers

(appologies for being a total escort n00b)

is it generally a 90 spec is made from 1990 onward and anything before is an 88 spec?

Also, has anyone any pics of an 88 spec and a 90spec, just for a visual comparison?

Yup

Pre 90 spec interior looks nicer imo.

90 spec has a handbrake surround with a coin tray, intermitant switch for wipers, electric mirrors(the E plate RS I had dindt have electric mirrors anyhow) 90spec one does. Thats all I can think of internaly.

90 spec cars started in late 1989, so some F reg ones are 90 spec, some are 88 spec.

Not sure about the interior differences, but you can see the outside ones. 90 spec is definitely better

As I was aware, could you buy an 88 spec with or without the custom pack? which meant electric mirrors etc were an option, but 90 spec cars had the custom pack as standard? With the only option basically being the fuel computer?

An '88 Spec shell has a shallower inner wing profile than the '90 Spec. So, the '90 Spec has a deeper head tank. That's the best way of telling a proper '90 Spec car as most other bits can be retro-fitted.

'90 spec also has a heated front windscreen.

I love the '90 spec spoiler, makes such a difference!

the 90 spec also had a different boot sticker, the ESCORT and RS was a outline, where as the 88 spec was solid writing.

Also on the engine, the 90 spec had the longer arm one side on the crossover pipe.

Correct. I have an 88 spec non custom. Which means keep fit windows, no central locking and no sunroof. The no sunroof is a bonus as it can't rot and leak. Leccy windows I'm not fussed with, but when I have it delocked I will have central locking fitted.

Fuel computers I think are a waste of time! Is anyone's still working?

The early cars did if you chose the electrics pack.
Heated windscreen, electric windows, central locking, electric mirrors and fuel computer and tilt & slide sunroof.

My car is a 89 F.

It didnt come with a front bumper or spoiler, but it does have heated front windscreen, electric windows and a manual sunroof.

Does that make it a 90 spec?

It has a rear bumper as can be seen in this pic..

Wiring plugs are different on the 90 spec cars aswell, the quick release type.

Instruments are different also.
