Thin blue wire mate, thats what you want to be checking.

Worst comes to worst and your alternator isn't working, you don't need a new one. About £20-25 to fix

If the lights on the alternator isn't charging, unless theres a short on the wire but if that was the case the alternator shouldnt be charging anyway as it needs the difference in potential across the bulb to start charging in the first instance.

All i will say is dont rely on it cos i almost guarantee its not guna start in the very near future

What you want to do in the first instance is disconnet the thin blue wire.

You should find the battery light no longer illuminates, and then touch the blue wire to earth and it should illuminate.

That will prove the wiring is ok.

Then check all the alternator connections are clean and also that you still have an alternator belt
