Turbo and ECU compatability

Turbo and ECU compatability
Hi all, turbo died on my series2 a while ago (oil seals).
Got a replacement in post today. It has no water ports, inlet or outlet.
So far I have found out that this is from a series 1 as it is oil cooled.
Can it be fitted to my S2 and driven reliably by blocking off water supply hoses??
I also have a chipped ECU but it is again from a series 1 (blue/red/blue) compared to mine s2 (hearts/diamonds)
although this unit does not support the knock sensor can it be used?
Thanks for your time

ecu
I use a series one ecu on my series2 without problems, you are correct in saying the knock sensor will no longer be in use. Alot of tuners say that the series one ecu is there prefered ecu, but i dont know why. As for the turbo as far as i am aware alot of people run them without being water cooled inorder to reduce the overall engine temps however i dont know how reliable or safe that is but i am sure you will have more replys soon.

The turbo will be fine as long as you connect the 2 pipe ends together (IMO this is better than blocking them)
And the ECU again will be fine, the series 1 ECU as said does not have an input for the knock sensor, which is said to be a good thing as the noisy top ends on CVH's can fool the ECU into thinking there is knock, so it will adjust the ignition timing accordingly.
Remember to get it set up though as the chip is from another car

You will have no problem. The water cooling was added in an attempt to stop the carbon deposits appearing on the shaft due to people working the turbo and then turning off the engine and oil supply. Drive gently for a mile or so before u turn off and it will be fine.

Cheers, been wanting to put a turbo timer on old RST for a long time. This, I think will be a good incentive.
I have a HKS TT on my Nissan but I would imagine one of these is not compatable with the RS. Anybody recommend any??
